Do you mean the actual eye turned black, or around the eye? If its around the eye, he could be changing colors. Pretty rare, but sometimes it happens with the seasons or in your case changes in the aquarium that imitate seasonal changes. However, I have also heard of goldfish getting black markings (around the eyes, and then in streaks) that are actually ammonia burns. So, I would check your ammonia levels to be sure they are still at zero. If not, do 20% water changes daily until the ammonia is back down, and add 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons of water.

If you have other fish in the tank, it is possible that they got in a fight and one of them bruised its eye. it happens. should get better, but if you notice other fish picky on it, you might separate them.
