Before anyone gets to open presents we read the story of Christ's birth and remind ourselves of the best gift ever given. This helps to balance out the abundance of gifts the children get and I just like making them wait, its sheer torture (hee hee).

My husband and I have a low-key holiday. It's just the two of us, and he often has to work on Christmas. But we have started a couple traditions in the last few years.

We have an advent calendar, the kind with little drawers that you stow candy in. This stretches the fun out all month.

On Christmas day or whatever day we wind up celebrating it, one of our gifts is a DVD, and we curl up and watch the movie together.

Oh, and I have a special breakfast casserole that I usually make. It's about the only time all year we actually sit down to breakfast.

A special Christmas Morning breakfast. My parents started the tradition their first Christmas after marriage - and we still do it. Every Christmas Morning! We normally make recipes that we do not make the rest of the year - or at least, if we do make them, the dishes are still special and favorites of ours!
