WMA is a compressed audio format developed by Microsoft. It was to compete with mp3 format. WMA stands for Windows Media Audio. It's not a bad format, but it is not the industry standard. For example, iPods will not read WMA's. Most cd players will not read wma's. They will read mp3's only. Mp3 is the superior format due it's cross-platform support.
