Ouch u got a rough age. My little sister is 14 and yeah it's a tough age 2 buy for. The age were girls want 2 b grown but aren't quite there yet. The safest route is gift cards and money. Although music is a good route to take and electronics.

Gift cards; my teenage niece loves them, but it feels kind of impersonal. mp3 player (jewelry is another option, too.

If, by "very money careful" you mean that she'd feel bad if you spent too much, you may look into gift cards/certificates for a game trading store. If she loves video games, second hand items are a good (and cheap) investment.
