You assume, incorrectly of course, that ALL republicans are wealthy. Common mistake figure that part out and come back. Additionally, the scripture you quote is well used and also used in the context of Christ stating this to a man who he knew clutched too closely to his wealth and would be his demise. So, Christ told him to "sell all of your possesions.." because for him that was required not for ALL.
Also, last I checked Christianity was not a political party. I know sometimes it looks that way but its a personal relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Haz, I am a Christian. I do not consider myself a Republican or a democrat. I am an independant, moderate-conservative. However, I should also point out that I DID vote for the GOP in this last election. I am not employed, nor am I rich.
Sure, we should help the poor... But in this country, that doesn't say allot. Those who are poor due to a sense of entitlement far eclipse those who are legitimately poor.
You see none of what you mention from other parties either... But to me, these are the most important issues:
The War on Terror/National security
Abortion/the slaughter of the unborn
the threat of gay marriage against the institution known as the family...
These are my three top issues, and I voted for the GOP because they stood for those... Jesus valued little children perhaps more than any, if he placed priorities on such things. He valued families... And while giving to the poor is important, I cannot find that as justification for one who supports the undermining of family, or the slaughter of the unborn.

Take a look a scripture, I see no where in there where it states we are to be involved in "issues" as believers. Render to Caesars what is Caesars. Christ was not an "issue" person. There are reasons why people have abortions, are sleuths..lol, etc, its called their sin nature. All Jesus said was Go and sin no more, now did they, ummm no!!! We are under the blood. I would get out of the issues, Republican or democrat, its all the same and God's Sovereign. I am not a fatalist, but I do believe there are things more important that getting out on topics that really can only be fixed by salvation, and a regeneration of a sinners heart, that is where our focus should be, not the issues of the world.

Political party preference does have something to do with morals, rights and wrongs - to the extent that those issues guided your selection to that party. For example - if you favor tax breaks to the rich, not the poor - and you benefit from this, then no... it is not christian. Democrac philosophy is based on more compassion, generosity, fairness and gain for all, rather than me first - to hell with how my gain affects everyone else. Democracy is more christ like - in every way. I am a democrat. Do I believe in abortion, no - but I dont believe in premarital sex either, they are one in the same. Yet who is addressing the moral decline in our youth, sexual immorality that precedes such an event. This country is growing more and more injust, to the point where true morality, true ethics and truth which are not flamboyant, rich or outwardly pleasing - are no longer of value instead we value the almighty dollar and those who have lots of it.

Yes, it's perfectly fine. But only if you personally believe that the policies of the Republican Party are what you want politically. Religion can be a large motivator for many people in politics, but it is not the only one. The Bible does not really say anything on most of our political issues, so you're okay whichever way you choose.
However, your concern about the poor would probably send you to the Dem side, yet Jesus said "My Kingdom is not of his world." God will not judge you by your politics, only by your actions (according to Revelation).

Luke 18:18 - 25...story of the rich man. The bible is filled with disastrous results of too much wealth.
The flip side is also true...the bible talks a lot about things that imply...worship God and get wealthy.
Do a wealth study on the Bible and you'll see some real contridictions. I roll my eyes at all of it but your verse is in Luke.

Using your logic, hardly anybody in the United States could be saved, Republican or Democrat.

Are you assuming that ALL Republicans are rich? Or that ALL Christians are rich? Either way, you would be wrong. We just have morals and values.
