The 60's isn't nearly as old as it used to be. Women in the United States routinly live into their 80's these days. A *woman* having a child after 40, by the way, is no more wrong or right than a *man* having a child after 40, in terms of fairness to the child. Why do you assume that only the *mother* is doing the child care? The father should be doing his share, as well.
As for why they have children.....Women and men have kids after 40 because they want children. Plain and simple. It's their choice.

Im 40.. My husband and I are praying to adopt. Why, because I cant have anymore children. But I can assure you one thing. My mother is 63 and she is awesome! She looks great and feels great. One thing I might add is that my husband and I have our feet on the ground. We have a beautiful country home on several acres, my husband has a great Salary and I am a stay at home mother. I dont have to work and I have all the time in the world to love a child. We have a 16 year old son, he desires to have a little brother. We are praying and we hope to have more children in the very near furture. BTW, I have worried quite a bit about my age and raising another family, but after seeing all the positive responses, I think God is telling me that its ok. I will be a great mother and my husband will be a wonderful father, again..
Thanks for your question, it helped me come to realize that we, my husband and I, no matter what are age is, can and will be able to teach a child that love does exist, that happiness does exist and that we can give a child a full life and a forever home..

Hi, Older women have more patience and are more knowledgeable about childcare. They are less selfish and understand the importance of putting the child first, which is something that most young mothers do not. I have always wondered why God made us so that we could have children so young and gave us menopause so we had to stop having children. Doesn't make sense. It should be the other way around. Older mothers are less anxious, nervous and have way more patience.

I don't agree at all.
And I suppose the younger the better. And of course after they have screwed the first few kids up in the head and they are totally crazy it's OK to keep having kids as by now they should be in their early 20's. And maybe they have learned something.
The younger people get at having babies the more other people like you talk that crap about older moms who truly want the child and not some stupid fling and oops here comes baby Ruth!!~!!!
At least the older woman knows what she is getting into. If young women did DFS would not be over loaded with homeless, abused and neglected children. Mind you neglected by their YOUNG parents!!!!!!!

Her womb, her choice. At least she won't be out in bars trying to find a husband while her kid gets brought up by babysitters.
Being concerned about stretch marks is the height of shallowness.

Who are you to judge? Would you rather have a teen-age girl get pregnant and not be able to properly support their child? At least most women over age 40 can support their child without assistance from Welfare!

Well, it's like anything else... because they can. Hopefully, this is not your biggest concern in life. If a person takes good care of theirself, they can be a good parent well into their seventies. Not everyone is worn out after 50 as you seem to believe.
