The SEC is a hayseed conference - football is the only thing they have going for them. Each of their universitys are in fairly small "urban" centers, while the schools in the Pac 10 tend to be in larger Urban areas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland. These poor people have nothing else to boast about, let them have their happiness, it would be cruel to take it away from them, however true it may be.
You can even tell all they think about is football, but the way they answer your question. You Clearly said ALL sports, yet all these knuckleheads talk about it football.
Dearest Morons,
The question was ALL sports not just football - things like basketball, baseball, track and field, etc. And in that case NO Conference has won more national Chapionships than the Pac 10.

Please, The Pac-10 is the weaker than star jones in a krispy kremes. the SEC is the most difficult conference because they have a higher average of really good teams. Now, they dont win many national championships because they dont have one singular dominating GREAT team. I'm a michigan fan from chicago, but the reason why the Big 10 and the Pac 10 have so many national championship is simple. The south was segregated for much longer and the fact that both conferences get a automatic BCS bid in the Rose bowl.

Reason #1
The SEC Pays their players better.
Reason #2
They are not educated enough to see that the SEC doesn't have anywhere the championships that the PAC 10 or Big 10 has.
Reason #3 The lack of Teeth (upper and lower rows, "yes for those of you in the south, you at one time had both rows"
Reason #4 The only team in the south worth a mention or T2 is Alabama. No other school in the SEC has the same history or championships that the Tide has.
Reason #5 The ratings no longer apply since the BCS now only means,
Bowl
Cheating
Southerners

5 top 25 teams in the sec.
1 (+1 that shouldn't even be there) top 25 in the pac 10.
i think you can see just by that. the sec has consistently put out winning teams and programs, and the pac 10 has good years here and there... LAST year maybe the pac 10 was considered good, this year, it got really screwy and exposed the overall weakness of the conference. the difference in the pac 10 and the sec is that the sec was supposed to get screwy between arkansas and florida and auburn and lsu... the pac 10 wasn't supposed to have teams like arizona (who is HORRIBLE), and oregon state ruin seasons...
ya dig?

PAC 10, you're kidding me. The Pac 10 has USC, thats it. The SEC and Big 10 perennially put out the best teams. This year 4 or 5 of the 10 BCS teams will be from the SEC and Big 10, 1 from the Pac 10. OSU will beat USC, that is for sure.

The SEC is primarily dominate in defense not offense so you usually have lower scoring tough matches. also every single year more SEC teams than any other, land in the top 25. Currently there are 5 SEC teams in the top 25. Another good thing about the SEC the teams in it don't go find a school out of their conference that has never won a game to play just to get a big win.

Well, Sports Illustrated does some kind of ranking of all Div 1 schools' athletic programs each year, and Texas and Stanford regularly top that list.
I don't think the Pac-10 DOMINATES college athletics, as when was the last time Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Cal, or Arizona State dominate any sport?

This is for "mountainlvr65 and lord spud".
The reason the pac 10 seems to dominate is because of media hype. you have:
usc-football
stanford-baseball
ucla-basketball
other than these you have nothing.you went to the rose bowl every year because that was the agreement with that bowl(winner of pac 10 vs winner of big 10). it was always the least enjoyable bowl to view because of the "mediocre" teams.
the sec is much more competitive in all sports.for example:
LSU-always in top 10 in football,baseball,basketball,track,etc.
Now, as far as southerners not having teeth, perhaps you watch too much television where southerners are portrayed as yokels. I'd venture to bet that the west coast has more druggies and gays than any other part of the usa. see, I watch tv also.

its because the sec has arkansas, florida, georgia, and some other good teams like tennesee and lsu and the only thing the big 10 have is osu, michghan, and winconsin. and the Pac-10 have USC! cal, oregon state, ucla, and oregon
