Anyone ever have one of these? I will be getting one for my ankle/foot pain. Can you tell me more about them?

Don’t worry about wearing a cast. A fiberglass cast is not very heavy and quite resistant. You can choose nearly any color to be stylish. If your doctor allows it, you will get one with a walking heel or you can use a castshoe. I’ve had one with a walking heel, I would prefer with a castshoe. It’s thinner at the ankle/foot, so you can fit trousers moe easily and use tights/long socks without destroying them (Very important in the cold season). Depending how long you have to wear the cast, it can get a bit smelly. This is more common in summer when you sweat under the cast. In this case or if you are a very active person, there is a possibility to get a waterproof cast (different to cast covers).
P.S: I wish you a speedy recovery

I have had 2 casts on my ankle and they are not fun try to keep it dry dont get it wet at all cause if you do then the cast will cause skin brake downs which means will cause sores on your skin and can get a really bad infection,,, I am getting ready to get my 3rd cast cause tonight i stepped on a toy and broke my ankle in 2 places and the ortho doctor that im going to you can pick the color they have Camo, pink, purple, glow in the dark, and green,,, I am not looking forward to getting another one cause when i got my other 2 they made a rubber piece on the bottem of them so i could walk on it but i dont know if they have them any more so it looks like i will be on crutches for 6 to 8 weeks,,, good luck on your new cast and dont stick anything in it when it itches cause you have a chance that you will brake the skin and cause an infection also,,,

In July I had a ankle fusion. I had a total of 4 casts.
They come in different colors. Purple, Pink, Blue and Tan. Do not get them wet. Do not put anything down in them to scratch a itch. Should you the cotton on the inside will bundle down around your ankle. Those are fine. What isn't so pleasant is the boot I had to wear to learn how to walk again on that foot. Good Luck to you.

You remember the white casts that you see in the movies, almost same thing. Don't get them wet, use a pillow btween your legs when you sleep, use a blow dryer on cool setting to blow down the leg when they itch. Ususally they stay on for 6-8 wks.
The time will fly by!

They are very much lighter, more durable, more comfortable, and less messy than the usual plaster of paris casts. Don't worry about it.
