In Trigonometry, you need to know Chief SOH CAH TOA
It means that for a right triangle the:
SOH
Sine of the angle = side Opposite over Hypotenuse
CAH
Cosine of the angle = side Adjacent over Hypotenuse
TOA
Tangent of the angle = side Opposite over Adjacent
Where you know the lengths of the sides of a right triangle and the angle is not the perpendicular angle.

it's a memory aid for trigonometry - helps you to remember which trig ratio to use depending on the sides you have:
Sin = Opposite/hypotenuse (Soh)
Cos = Adjacent/hypotenuse (Cah)
Tan = Opposite/adjacent (Toa)

Cool, I learned this way back in the stone age (I'm 53). I don't think that it's taught any more. I still use it to remember the relationships.
