Back in the 70s it was global cooling. How quickly things change. Climates get hotter and cold in cycles. And according to scientists, we've been experiencing global warming since the last ice age. Doesn't secular history say that the world has already gone through a warming an dcooling cycle several times? Global warming may be slightly accelerated by industrial activity, but the truth is that our climate is alot bigger than us. It will get wrmer or cooler with or without our help.

And I've got snow in November in Portland, Oregon. What's your point?

People, anecdotal evidence means nothing in terms of substantiating global climate change. Besides, let's assume for a moment that the planet really is warming. That doesn't mean that it's warming _due mainly to human activity_. The truth is that this planet has warmed and cooled cyclically for millions of years without human industrial activity. The idea that we've gone and "destroyed" the planet is frankly a pretty self-aggrandizing notion.

ummm. I live in Western Washington State and we are breaking record lows. We have snow. It never snows this early. Most years it doesn't snow at all. There are changes. No argument there but if you look at the BIG picture the world has had unusual mild weather for the last 400 years. For thousands of years before that, world weather was very extreme. Many, if not most, Meteorologists believe we are going back to that norm. And it has nothing to do with what we as humans are doing to the environment. In fact, have you heard of Global Dimming? Look it up.

I believe global warming is happening for the reason that every argument I have seen supporting the notion has been backed up with scientific evidence. Every argument against it seems to be based on hearsay. I think it is happening, what I am not totally convinced about is the extent to which it is happening. I think we are going through a cyclical warmer period, however I believe to a certain extent it has been exaccerbated by the global warming phenomenum.

I agree 100% with RevKev! You will get my vote if this question goes into voting. ;-)

The earth has been here for millions of years and we've been tracking weather trends for what, 100, maybe 150. I believe there are long-term global trends we don't understand.

PS: I'm watching the weather forecase right now (live in the Twin Cities) and we're seeing temps in the single digits. They're projecting below average temps for the next 5 days.

Dude, I live in Texas and the weather is so inconsistent and it's still quite warm when it is supposed to be colder. Sometimes it gets cold and then the next day it is warm again... sucks.

Dude, it's 48 degrees here, and tomorrow the high will be 61. I live in New Hampshire, and it has only snowed twice, both were dustings. Right now there are supposed to be plows out, but instead, damn, look at it.

uk, hot summer, wet and warm winters.... quite out of line

biggest change: sea warming, the cold water fish we used to have are going further north so instead of cods, we are getting mullets, breams, jelly fish and sometimes stingrays.... our birds colonies are affected too as they do not have their normal food; they are being decimated

very worrying and has a big impact on the economy
