I don't know...but they have contracted a lot of the work out.
Fed Ex Ground too....contractors...you buy a truck with their logo,
you run it...Not bad Capitalism at it's best....but North America
Has not learned, out sourcing is not always the best option.
but neither is paying techs at GM and Ford 30 an hour to sit on their ***....there has to be a fair medium... Well I think
Canada clued in....Bell Canada did...There whole outside plant was getting butchered for a quick buck.
I believe in Capitalism, but I also believe in fair wages, and CEO's that are worth their paychecks.
Customer service. Where has common sense gone.....
They are under the gun to deliver deliver deliver.....no common sense...like your note....your suppose to stay home all day or take the risk they leave it on your door.....no personality now adays....no oh Mr. Smith he will be back in 2 hours....perhaps I can stop back by...nope...drop it or send it back....
Yeah duh...now another person comes back....yeah that makes sense....There is no common sense in today's business Calble...telephone...etc.....
Your the customer..but you have to tie up your day...4 hours and then the tech is late or doesnt show.....excuse me...I am paying you will be here at this time.....thats how it should be....

Fed Ex in an attempt to maximize profits (everyone is doing it) decided to contract drivers. If you have a white van you can deliver for FedEx. This saves them a ton of money because contract employees are like illegal aliens -- you don't have to pay any taxes on them or give them benefits or anything.
Of course the big picture is your employees aren't very loyal if you contract them and they are just drawing a paycheck they can get from anywhere so what do they care if they are leaving packages at someone elses door? they can just go back to delivering news papers or something.
I was outside potting a plant and FedEx pulled up and parked their big white van in the middle of the grass of my neighbors yard for a package for my roommate. How genius is that?

You think that's bad? I've got a better story about Fedex and their "head up the asss" employees. So here I am waiting for a package that was supposed to have been delivered in 2 business days. The package comes almost a week late and is finally delivered. The Fedex delivery guy gives me a form to read and sign, which I read carefully, and refuse to sign. Basically, he wanted me to sign off om some document that stated the delivery was ontime. I told the guy to piss off and that I was not going to cover his butt for being incompetent. What arrogance? First they deliver my package late and then want me to falsely sign off stating they delivered it on time? They can go screw themselves for all I care. UPS has never resorted to such fraudulent behavior and I will continue to do business with them instead.

no they have not gone downhill
you fail to realize how long it takes to process the inquiry to download al data from a given driver, and then get a print out of verification of delivery ( call POD ) to you, keep in mind yours is not he only POD request they process, they get thousands a day., they have a huge volume of million of packages a day. i'ld rather ship FedEx than UPS
