Any ideas about the history of the word cloth or what greek words it came from?

The word "cloth" did not derive from Greek, Rather, according to the online dictionary I use (Merriam-Webster) the word is derived from Old English clAth cloth, garment; akin to Middle High and from German (kleit garment).

There is no Greek history to it. The word is German based on an old English word.
