my hair is long. why, dont people like long hair on a guy?

It's not that "people" don't like long hair on a guy. It's that "specific people" don't like long hair on a guy. Now, granted that in some areas this is the overhwelming majority of people (such as where I am from), but I think it is merely a matter of aesthetic. Now as history has shown us from region to region there is an "ideal" to which most people aspire. Maybe you simply have a sense of style that doesn't match your present locale.

The other possibility is your "image." Now I realize that I do not know you, but look at your "image"... is it one that traditionally supports a long haired person? Are you considered a "hippie" or "yippie" by some (not just because of your hair)? Are you a musician? More often than not in my experience the guys I've known with long hair who have been successful with interpersonal relationships have fit into one of these two categories. I'm not saying you have to change! It's just an interesting caveat of our social heirarchy that people expect certain things from certain groups and if you violate those paradigms then you are seen as outside the norm and therefore an unknown. People don't like the unknown...

Anyway, I hope this helps explain some things, but remember... you are who you are and you should be comfortable with that. If you compromise so much that you lose your identity then will you be any more happy than if you had a few people disliking you because of your personal choices?

It is not that people don't like long hair on guys it's a conspiracy created by Clairol. If boys have prettier hair than girls they would go broke along with other hair products. Boys just aren't as concerned about the color the style whether it's frizzy,curly or heck even clean. It's a hygiene thing . Keep your chin up and keep away from those places where long haired freaky people need not apply. PEACE

There are 2 approaches to this Q,,
one is that long hair etc does not go along with sober and Corporate / Executive norm - that is, being successful and focused in life... u can elaborate on that..

The second is the stereotype response - which is immediate - without reason (also unfair) .... but this probably has 2 sub-reasons, one is same as above,, two is that is falls short of the society norm...

I like long hair on some guys, if they have the body to pull it off. If they are real skinny and ugly they don't need long hair.

It's a matter of opinion.
There are a lot of people I know that love long hair on guys. There are also those that may think that it makes a guy look like a girl. Also, if your hair isn't that well kept, it may look scruffy and make you seem like you have bad hygiene. Regardless of how often you take a shower.
I suppose it's also a matter of how you carry yourself.

Some guys don't pick up the extra hygeine thats required to maintain a long hairstyle and look like dirty hippies. Keep it well maintained and clean, pull it back at work and screw any old people who give you a look.

Not all people dislike long hair on guys. :-) I happen to be one of those who likes long hair on guys. I think it's rather sexy.

I prefer guys who can express their own individuality, instead of worrying about what others think. ;)
