biggest thing to look for is to find a school that is Accredited. If for whatever reason you decide to transfer later on... only accredited school credits transfer over to private universities. The course work depends from school to school. Some have you do some research and write essays while others make you go online and find examples of things. Depends on the school.

I took a number of online classes, I should note that they require more time than regular inclass courses. There are too mant pages to read, required responses to conferences and individual homeworks every week and group project for the semester.
Requirements are not much different than regular degree types. There may be technical requirements for computer you'll be using because of the applications that they deliver the courses (which is not much - if you don't have too old computer, you'll be fine).
I should also add that without work experience, online degree does not mean much - it may help in the very long run. DO if you balance money you paid, time you spare for classes and the career opportunities it'll bring, I would opt for inclass degree.
If you'd like to see what it is and how it works, UMUC have weekly prospective student sessions in an environment that they deliver online courses. I do not have the exact URL but you can e-mail advising people (http://www.umuc.edu/students/ssc/contact.html) and tell your interest. I believe it is called UMUC 411 Program.
And a final note, stay away from schools known as "diploma mills"... Your diploma means next to nothing in the business world when you'll graduate from such schools...
Good luck...

This is a great idea if you are bsuy and can't make it to regualr classes. Often they are a little more work than an inclass class. But you have the freedom to do the work when you have the time. There are prerequesits just like normal classes. I don't think there are any other requirments.

I'm at AMU. (American Military University) No, it's not only for militants -- for everyone else as well.
They pretty much have the same requirements as any other college or university. Just make sure that your choice of school is REGIONALLY accredited. Without that type of accreditation, your degree will mean NOTHING in the working field. Please, please make sure of that.
