The commercial was a mom sitting in her car in the rain looking scared and then her son pops up from the back in a hockey mask and says they will be late, to which she plugs a battery charger into her cigarette lighter/outlet to jump her battery. The narrator says something about jumping your car in dangerous situations. I want to buy this for my father in law for xmas but can't remember what it was exactly. I thought it was Craftsman but looked all over the Sears website and can't find a battery charger that works inside the car. If anyone has seen this product/commercial and can tell me what the heck I am looking for it will make my xmas shopping that much easier! Thanks to all!!

One LOUD caveat!!!

The power required to start a car is in the range of > 120A. The cigarette / accessory power tap in the typical car is going to have a fuse that limits power to < 15A.
If there is NO fuse, the wiring from the socket to the battery runs through the dash circuits, all of which run on considerably LESS than 10A.
Can you see the problem??
You run the risk of burning up the wiring if there is no fuse, and if there IS a fuse, it will blow and you can sit there for hours and not know why you aren't getting a boost.
G.M. in fact has designed their lighter circuits so that power CANNOT be sent backward with this particular "accessory" because it DOES burn up wiring.
Which can start a car fire. And what are you sitting in? If you DID get it running, you now are driving at freeway speed riding a rather large match head.
MUCH better off buying him a jumper pack.
They can be charged at home and stored in the car, and will retain a sufficient charge for jump-starting for over a year, and power to charge cell-phones, or run little TVs for a couple of hours before requiring recharging.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas

It sounds too good to be true if you ask me. Amazon currently says it's #3 seller in the tools and hardware. But for some reason I think it's faked because:

Two weeks ago when I first stumbled upon it, I posted a discussion "Why no reviews". Then a few days later, we got 1 review. But if you look at his review profile, this is his ONLY review. That COULD suggest the account was just created, maybe by the seller, to promote the product.

I could have this all wrong... maybe it really is #3 and they were all for gifts for christmas so no one really tried them yet. Who knows. Anyway sorry for throwing my own doubts at ya :)
