The difference between the DS and the DS lite is that it is thinner, lighter and brighter. GAmes are compatible across both items

Yeah, they're essentialy the same thing.

The DS Lite is basicaly a redesign of the DS for user-friendly lighted interface and the more attractive and durable casing.

GameBoy stuff's always been really backwards compatable, they haven't changed that and won't.

Yep! They are essentially the same system. It's just that the DS Lite has a brighter screen, and is a bit more compact. Operationally, they work the same. Same came cards will work on either.

yes, its exactly like the game boy advanced and game boy advanced sp. the games are the same, the systems are the same, just diffrnt versions.
