how did prince zuko get that mark on his face?

on wikipedia it just says that its a facial burn scar

his dad the fire lord gave it to him when they were fighting just before he was exiled from the fire benders land or whatever. he spoke out at a council meeting and the punishment is to duel with the fire lord and he was not exempt from the battle
