Well no i think the time period set for the drastic climate change int he movie is too short. Although when looking at history we did have an Ice Age in just 100 years (shortest ever) so in a way it could be possible.

Well, we see it all around us that it is happening now. Sure, the governments of the World are meeting these days to talk about it and to do something about it, but it is already started. It will take years and years to undo the damage we have done already. And it is not easy to change either. Take cars for instance. They give off a lot of harmful stuff, but you can't ask everyone to stop using cars tomorrow. You have to develope cars that are more environment friendly... which takes time. Then, how many people can afford to buy a new car? It would take even longer for people to switch over. All the while, the Earth is getting more and more endangered. That is just one aspect. The movie was a good example of what can happen, but I don't think a huge global catastrophe would happen that quickly, all at once. But, we are headed for it that is for sure. The polar ice caps are melting. That is not good at all.

Well, it appears that changes are already happening because of global warming. The changes are nothing like the movie, but a lot of strange weather has really caused a lot of damage. Who knows if it truly is global warming that is causing all the strangeness. I certainly believe it from what I've read, but I also believe that we won't see anything close to the effects seen in the movie, at least not in our lifetimes. I REALLY hope we don't!! Good question. There are some really good sites out there that explain global warming. Take a peek at this one http://www.sierraclub.org/globalwarming/overview/
Good question by the way. It's nice to see some intelligent questions being asked.

The fact of the matter is, the entire movie was bogus. A climatic change is over a long, long, long time; we are talking centuries here.

Could there be a freak storm that blankets the East Coast in 3 feet of precipitation and sub-arctic conditions? Very doubtful, but it would not last if it did.

I don't think what exactly happened in the movie will happen but some similiar things may I watched the dvd and one of the men said that they were totally exaggerating in that movie and it will take years and years to get like that but I do believe if they keep doing what they are doing something will start to happen. Notice it is getting hotter and hotter by the years the temperatures are out of wack now.

I saw it. We are at risk for more trouble from global warming than we've already got. It wouldn't happen quite that quickly, though.

No, but if it does, Dennis Quaid will save the world, yet again, if he is still alive :)
