A paragraph is a unit of language larger than a sentence. A new paragraph marks a change of focus, a change of time, a change of place or a change of speaker in a passage of dialogue. A new paragraph begins on a new line, usually indented (set in a little) or with a one-line gap above it. Paragraphing helps readers to follow the story line, argument or dialogue.

Good paragraphs begin with a good opening theme sentance. Paragraphs can be as long as it takes to state and to develop your theme sentance. There isn't a set number of sentances, but most often, the development of a theme sentance can be done within 3-7 sentances. When you move on to a new thought or focus, you start a new paragraph.
The above paragraph was written in 4 sentances.

You change paragraphs when you change the topic of the paragraph. There is no set number.

There's not really a set number, but usually 3-5 sentences is a good idea.
