That's a good question, it's too easy to get stuck in patterns where we say the same things over and over. Occasionally, I leave little notes with his lunch or in his wallet that he will find during the day that say things like "you are amazing!" or simply "I love you". You can say things like, "you are so precious, inspiring, and wonderful, I can't wait to see you tonight." Sit and think about exactly what he means to you, and why he is special, and tell him!

"Love you, miss you...have a wonderful day"
"No matter how long your day at work, I'll still be here when you get home!"
I never let my partner or my son leave the house without hearing "I love you" and a simply sentance to let them know I will always support them.
Today I knew my son was nervous about an upcoming audition, I just told him, no matter what, I'm always his biggest fan!
My partner has been overworked at her job lately, so I let her know before she leaves that she can vent all she wants when she gets home and try to hint at what nice things I can do for her when she does get home. Simple things really make a big difference for her, making sure she has tea ready and waiting when she gets home, keeping the house clean so she can relax, having her favorite shows or some good movies ready for her to enjoy, taking care of the car or baking a special treat she can take with her to work and share, setting out her sweats for her after work workout, making sure there are plenty of clean towels...all these little things lets her know she's loved and I'm always there for her.
Even if I know I won't be home when she gets there, for whatever reason, I still make sure things are taken care of at home so she can relax after work and her workout.
I even do simply loving things for my son as well. So he knows Mom cares. But that's a bit different.
I work at home, so I have the time to do these little things.

find something you 2 personally share.
for example, a guy I was with didn't have much of a butt. when telling him why I loved him one day, I told him I loved him for his sense of humor, his imagination, & his adorable non-butt. He laughed, but I know that'll be one of the "I love you"s that he remembers.
