Ronald Reagan

Johnson first because he put into place the ideas that JFK wanted but was unable to do because of his death.
Then it would be Reagan because of the way he dealt with the cold war. He ended it.
Truman because he had the guts to end WW2 with the bomb.
Nixon because he was able to end the Nam conflict and open the trade venue with China.
JFK here because he was not in office long enough to see his vision come true. Yes he did get the missiles out of Cuba but almost started WW3.
Eisenhower here because he got the troops for the most part out of the Korean conflict.
Ford and Carter are last because Ford pardoned Nixon too soon and did not help out New York when they needed it and Carter because of his failure of the Iran problem.

A lot of people are saying Reagan, which I disagree with. He wasn't solely responsible for ending the Cold War - there were a lot of other factors, he just happened to be president when they all came together. I'd be so bold as to say that Harry S. Truman was the best president of the lot you've given us to choose from. He supported civil rights in an age when many were fighting against them, he ended the second world war in the Pacific (albeit by dropping atomic bombs, but I've read his memoirs and feel as though he honestly believed it was the right thing to do), he was an honest man, and most importantly, he had a sense of humour (reminding everyone that if they wanted a friend in Washington "get a dog").

Without a doubt the greatest president of the Twentieh Century was Ronald Wilson Reagan. His foresight regarding the validity of supply-side economics ushered in the longest uninterrupted growth streak in US history, he strengthened our military, and made Americans proud to be Americans again.

Most importantly though, one magical day in Reykjavik, Iceland in December, 1987, he stared down Mikahil Gorbachev and effectively won the Cold War.
