Bill Walsh was 2-14 his first year and 6-10 his second year before he won his first Lombardi in his third year. Nolan is in his second year as head coach, so we'll see if history can repeat itself. I'm a die hard niner fan, but I don't expect them to get in this year. I'm just happy to see them improve from the past season. Get another marquee player or two on defense and we'll see. I'm hopeful though.

They needed to beat St. Louis to have a legit shot at being a playoff contender. The loss proves though that they aren't consistent enough to be a playoff team. The team is on the right path and could win the division next year, but they're going through growing pains. If Hassleback's thumb keeps him out for a while, then they still could sneak in the playoffs via a division title but it's not likely.

There is an outside chance that they could win the wild card, but a division title would require a Seattle melt-down. If they want to make the playoffs, they need to think about winning out.

I think they had a chance when they beat Seatle last week, but now that Seattle is on a roll an is back to life, I seriously doubt that they'll make it to the Playoffs.

They may have a shot at the wild card, but I don't think they will get pat Seattle to lead the division!!!
