The cell phone gets turned off when I'm not using it, which is often. The home phone gets it's Caller ID looked at before deciding to be answered. As for the door...
who needs doorbells or security systems when you have two dogs that alert you, that you have company, as soon as a car starts up the driveway, and keep any and all guests at bay, while letting me decide whether or not I will open the door. I usually open the door.

Sometimes, yes. I work at home and unfortunately, my neighbours and friends think that because I'm home, it must be okay to just drop by or phone. When they drop by, they expect to stay for coffee and chat. Same thing on the phone, they want to talk on and on. What they don't realize is that when they leave, I've got to make up for the time. I put up a note on my door once that read, "Please do not disturb...working until 6pm". People were completely ticked about that and made fun of it for a long time aftewards (???). Why I don't know. So now, I just simply don't answer my door and the ringer on my phone gets turned off in the morning and stays that way all day. They are still ticked, but I could care less..LOL.

I have caller ID so I can pick & Choose who I want to talk to the door though I wish I could ignore it! I have a frickin door bell that is so frickin loud it'll wake the dead I swear. So people never knock so I can pretend that I didn't know they were there. Also I live in a small town and my hubby is so well liked that ANYBODY that stops by knows whether I am there or not because I have to park outside I don't have a garage.

i answer the door most of the time cause my dog won't let me ignore it:)
i ignore my cell phone ALOT and i'm not proud of it...
Ellen Degeneres does a funny bit in her stand up about cell phones...when we only had house phones, if you didnt answer the phone, YOU WEREN'T HOME! Now, with cell phones, if you don't answer... people get pissed off!
That bit of irony is spot on...
I can't stand friends asking me "where i was" or "why didn't I answer the phone"... can i have some privacy?
excellent question, i got a chance to vent...
