What do you think? If they are in a western/Christian country, shouldn't they be more sensitive to, and embrace, their hosts ways instead of trying to change local laws/culture? For example: Imams stage prayer protests in airport, demanding apology from US for racial profiling when 6 muslims were banned from a flight for suspicious behavior, then requested that security/police undergo sensitivity training. What ever happened to "When in Rome..."? And, would the opposite ever occur in a predominantly Muslim country?

In answer to your first question, No, it is not right. It is totally unfair and inconsistent. Laws are supposed to be based on common sense. When Muslims are in our country, they must abide by our laws and our common sense as we see it.

Muslim countries are much more authoritarian, so I doubt very much if Christians could get away with a prayer vigil in a Middle East airport.

You raised a very good question. Too many people don't stop & think about these perspectives.

I have often thought about this very point. There is, if i may say so, a high level of hypocrisy among the Muslim masses. We want to be able to build mosques everywhere we want, but then make it very difficult (or in some countries impossible) to build a church. Whenever there is a church in a Muslim country, you will (almost) always find a bigger mosque nearby, within sight of the church.
We demand the right to be able to proselytize, but will scream bloody murder if we even suspect that some "christian" or "jew" is trying to convert a muslim. I am no even going to talk about the "other" religions. I have never seen a hindu or buddhist temple anywhere in any muslm country, at least not public ones.
I hate, absolutly hate terms like "the west" and "the east" used in this issue. What does that mean? What is "the west"? I thought that Islam was universal, that it was not specific to one culture or time? Isn't that what we were taught? If that is true, then why is Islam being confined to Arab or "eastern" culture? There is no more validity to that "Arab" Islam, as practiced in the Middle East, than say the Islam practiced in Indonesia for example.
There is an Arab Islam just like there is a Frencyh Islam, a Russian Islam and so forth. As long as the basic and foundemental tenants of the religion are respected, then each country or culture can adapt the rest to suit its own characteristics.
If you want to leave your country, Egypt for exmple, and go live in Europe, say France, then you'd better get ready to relinquish some of your "Egyptianess" and become a little more "French".
That is the simple truth.
It really saddness me when i see the Muslims of Europe, all huddled together in their neighborhoods, wearing their traditional clothing, only dealing with each other and rejecting most forms of assimilation. Some even barely speak the language. Women are regularly hauled off back "home" so that they can marry a "good Muslim man".
If you love your country, and its culture, that much, then why the hell did you leave it?
Those Imams that prayed together at the airport or the plane just completely shut off their minds and their sensitivities. What were they thinking? Yes, i know Islam allows for prayers to be performed almost anywhere, but where is your brain? Where's your common sense? With all that is going on in the world, didn't you think that it would look a little strange, if not suspicious, for a group of middle eastern looking bearded men to be doing some strange (to the general public) Islam ritual? Islamic prayers are not as simple as christian prayer for instance, it cannot be done without "disturbing" those around us.
We refuse to acknowledge that the "other's" culture and system of beliefs are just as valid as ours. When you feel that you're beliefs are superior and that god is on your side then why should you care what the "other side" thinks? When such a mentality reigns then violence is never far behind. The violence brought about by christiany in the middle ages is a clear example of this. Islam is no different, it is no more peaceful or warlike than any other religion.

why there muslims that are nonetheless jealous of the western way of existence? here is why because of the fact the west has been very progressed and have contributed plenty to all branches of understanding. jointly as the muslims have purely fvked camels, infants and added jihad. The Muslims slaughtered the Jews and drove them out of Mecca, Medina, Afghanistan. Mohammad exchange into the main important massacrer of Jews and Christians. Muslims are terros.Muslims have the perception that as of now, the worldwide is a house of conflict Dar al-Harb & until eventually at last it accepts Islam it particularly is going to proceed to be so. to that end, the job of each and every Muslim is to coach this "homestead of conflict" to a "homestead of peace" Dar as-Salam. Now how do they gain it? The Quran gives you them with a answer. i.e kill non Muslims in the event that they decline Islam. "Muhammad suggested, ‘you're commanded to accomplish jihad against the unbelieving infidels until eventually they undergo Islam' " (Qur'an 40 seven:4) Qur'an (8:12) & 107 different verses in the Quran echo a similar message of Jihad. Muslims are additionally given the coverage that in the event that they kill non Muslims they gets eternal rewards. Quran (9.111): Allah hath offered of the believers their persons and their products; for theirs (in return) is the backyard (of Paradise): they conflict IN HIS reason, AND SLAY AND ARE SLAIN: a promise binding on Him in certainty, throughout the time of the regulation, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who's extra committed to his covenant than Allah? then celebrate in the best deal which ye have concluded: it particularly is the fulfillment ultimate. Verses like Qur'an (4:seventy 4) & many others talk of eternal rewards. So particularly Muslims do no longer care whether they die jointly as doing their Jihad because of the fact Allah has promised an eternal advantages for them. Muslims that carry on with Islam are very committed in the direction of their faith & they suspect that even though is there in the Quran is for authentic. The 9/11 exchange into completed by the muslims. do no longer call it an interior job techniques ineffective terrorist. next you will say that Mohammad too exchange into an "interior job".

I'm a Muslim by choice living in Australia and I do not deman sensitivity and I have never met any Muslim who would. I think you have been paying too much attention to the news and not to the real Islam. Why should a Muslim person change themselves to be like Western people? In Islam, we embrace all other religions - especially those who believe in God. We live by the fact that everyone can do as they please, and we do not judge - because they will be judged by God.
