As long as fear can be used as a weapon and the truth can be denied by those who perpetrate these horrible crimes, the world will never be a better place. You're very correct.

And what lesson might that be, that man is capable of inhumanity against their fellow man? So how was this different from any other part of history? The aztec had human sacrifice, the romans tossed christians to the lions, the catholics doom of the protestants and vice versa, the rhuwandans whack their neighbors, the native americans are given diseased blankets, and on and on. So what lessons did WWII and the holocaust teach us...that we can doom each other off on a large scale?
We can try a doom off people like Saddam for his ethnic cleansing, but that won't stop the next hitler from doing the same....

It's not forgotten....it's unimaginable that it is happening.
People close there eyes and hope it goes away...or they call it a "civil war" or political change.
During the 90' the top people in the Clinton administration saw 1st hand the genocidal killing that was happening in Africa....Albright and Ms. Clinton vowed that the U.S. would do everything in it's power to stop it in the future...guess what...they forgot.

The devil's arithmetic is a sturdy one and it gets the element for the period of without utilising foul language or overly (study: irrelevant for 9th grade) completed violence. do no longer forget to get parental permission for an movie that includes the photos of the holocaust. maximum, if no longer all, would be rated R or "PD-M" (parental discretion-mature), that's what The devil's arithmetic is rated.

As is to be expected, the present generation, having had too much information thrown at them, is unable to properly filter out that which matters... Hence, we live in today's world: Paying outrageous money to give us a moment's escape from the reality that shows up on our TV's news... Film at 11...

Yep, you are right. But we've got leaders in Iran and North Korea that act as if Hitler and Stalin were models. We've got folks in Sudan that think that Arab moslems can kill or enslave black Christians in the south to steal their oil--and we gripe about Bush booting out Saddam who killed his enemies indescriminantly and built a hundred palaces from money that was supposed to provide food and medicine for his impoverished people. Yep, you are right.
