i'll tell you this straight forward. As a kid... we all think we have things figured out. we don't realize until after we leave highschool that everythign we knew in highschool was either a lie, a joke, or worthless. Very little of who you were in high school should follow you when you become an adult.
I can tell you from experience.... i was never a bad student.. always had A's and B's on my tests and quizzes and stuff.. Homework was another issue. I hated it. Never did it. Little did i know it would hurt me in the long wrong. When it was time for me to graduate and go to college... i wasn't accepted into any college I applied for so I joined the Marine Corps. And the truth... i love the marine corps and everything i did in it. But... i still wanted something more. So i went back to school and tried for my degree again. Right now, i'm about to graduate with a major in biology and a minor in information technology. It was tough and I look back now and see that everythign I did or thought I knew in highschool was a waste of time. All the "friends" you have will do one of three things: Disappear, help you or hurt you. That is real life. All the popularity that you have or don't have in school is useless in the real world. My advice... do your work in and out of school.
As for family time.... remember this... it was told to me by a wise old man once "ITS NEVER ABOUT NOT HAVING TIME. ITS ALWAYS ABOUT NOT MAKING TIME".

Incentives?????? How about an education?????? Shouldn't that be incentive enough??? A good education starts in grade school/middle school. High school should be used to prepare you for college or trade school. With your good grades you will be able to apply for scholarships, grants and loans.
If you buckle down set these for your goals then your parents will not have to work as hard so they can pay for your college.
You will then be able to spend more time with your good 'ol parents.
What more incentive do you need? You will reap the benefits of your hard work.............
The higher education level you achieve the greater earning potential you will have.
As far as the teachers being solely responsible for your education, you need to become responsible for your own education.

How about the incentive of getting an education so you don't work low paying dead end jobs all your life?
Homework is to show that you are learning what the teacher is TRYING to teach-have you heard the saying about leading a horse to water?
If you're concerned about family time, what are you doing to promote it?

grades and passing the class/grade are supposed to be the incentives. teachers really can only create the environment for people to learn. learning has to be done by the learner. pushing that responsibility somewhere else won't fly.
