The first to go directly to the NBA from high school are Bill Willoughby and Darryl Dawkins in 1975 who both played in the "NBA" during the 1975-76 season.
Moses Malone was the first high schooler to play "professional baskeball" but his first "NBA" season season was played during the 1976-1977 season, a year after than both Willoughby and Dawkins had played in the NBA.

Moses Malone was the first person to sign a NBA a contract straight from high school. Malone signed a $300,000 a year contract to play in the ABA in 1974. This is way before the time of Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett!
