I'm going up there for a cheerleading competition but we'll have some free time while we're there so we're looking for something to do. Any suggestions?

There are several places to go here in Nashville. Here are just a few of the top sites to see:

Opry Mills Mall (The biggest mall in Nashville)

Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center

[Note 1: This page takes a moment to load. Reported server troubles.]

[Note 2: One of the new features this year is a newly built spa area of the hotel. This spa is open to the public. You need not be staying at the hotel to use this service. More info at: http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordopryland/spa/index.cfm ]

[Note 3: The NYC Rockettes are playing at the Opryhouse located between the hotel and Opry Mills Mall now through Dec 31]

[Note 4: There is a huge ICE show (Ice carvings exhibit) going on at the 'Gas Light Theater' Located between the Gaylord Hotel and the Opryhouse. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going soon]

Cool Springs Mall.

IMAX Theater:

[Note: this is in Opry Mills Mall, and there is a huge regular theater right next door to the IMAX theater within the mall]

If your into country music consider the Grand Ole Opry which is playing downtown at the historical Ryman Auditorium (Church street downtown Nashville) until about March. After that the Grand Ole Opry will be back to its newer (built in 1974) and larger facility out at the Opryhouse theater, located behind the Opry Mills Mall.

If your into symphony music, Nashville has a brand new state of the art symphony hall. One of the remarkable features of this new hall is that the hall has electronically removable seats that store itself into the basement of the facility, exposing a full size elegant dance hall floor. It's awesome sight to see.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is another good stop.

The Grand Ole Opry Museum. (Sorry no website)
This attraction is often missed by most visitors to Nashville. Located behind Opry mills mall is the Opryhouse. If you walk to the right of the Opryhouse, there is a courtyard with the Acuff theater located to the rear of the courtyard. Next to the Acuff theater is the Grand Ole Opry Museum. Admission price: Free (cant beat that price). Hours of operation Mon.-Sat. 10am-5pm. Sunday 12pm-5pm.

One last attraction to see is the Broadway and 2nd street areas of downtown Nashville. That's were lots of the bars and gift shops are located. The entertainment district if you will.

For other attractions visit the Nashville Visitors Bureau:

I hope you enjoy your stay in Nashville.

Nashville is rich in historic sites & monuments. Of interest are several recontructions of historic buildings. Fort Nashboro is a reconstruction of the original fort built by the first pioneers arriving in the area. This downtown tourist spot has costumed "settlers" who can tell you all about life in Nashville back in the 1800's.

The Music Valley Car Museum has an impressive display of vintage cars formerly owned by famous personalities such as Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton. The Music Valley Wax Museum has many life-size figures of past and present country and western music stars.
