Yeah, Farenhiet 451 is a fantastic choice but try reading A Clockwork Orange, now thats a hoot.

Octavia E. Butler's novel The Parable of the Sower is a good one, showing a bleak future indeed, but also a hope beyond it.

"We" (A novel by a Russian author). It pre-dates Orwell's works, though is in the same vein. Weird stuff, though.
