Most garden centers sell bareroot citrus trees in the spring. A lot cheaper to buy and easy to plant. Each tree should have a tag showing what zone it works in.

There are some things you have to let people know? like where you live? if you live in the south probably any time. if are from the north better to wait for march or April . the day are longer. the seeds cant take a frozen period. keep it warm no colder than 50 like the temps. in Florida.
better to plant in a small pot and than transplant in a larger one when the time comes. why? the root system can grow into the small pot better and then plant in a slightly larger pot and so on until you get a large pot to hold a large tree. remember to keep it water. I did heard the fruit off pot grown citrus is bitter so keep it well water and change the soil to keep it from getting to much salt in the soil. that is the white surface stuff on the soil. there is one way to keep the salt from building up is to water it until the water run free from the bottom.
