We recently had this issue brought up in school and we had to write a paper on how fair/unfair it is for society to judge a Muslim just because of the previous actions of Muslims. Do you think it is fair to have that inner "alertness" when you automatically see a Muslim in an aiport/airplane? How do YOU feel?

You should never judge a person because of their race or religion. People need to stop judging muslims, and stop calling them terrorists. Not all muslims are ignorant, and cruel like some (Osama Bin Laden, Sadam Hussein) Religion doesnt kill people, people do. It is not fair for a muslim to be stopped and searched just because of their race or religion. Anyone can be a negative obstacle to the world, which shouldnt only go towards Islam and its followers. People need to stop calling muslims terrorists, and Islam a bad influence to the world. People need to learn and hear what the true meaning of Islam is, and that is peace.

I'm more scared when I see them get on a bus. I used to live in Israel for a year... during that year 12 buses were blown up by suicide bombers (muslims), 3 restaurants and 2 shopping centers. No, it's never happened in the US (yet) but b4 9/11 no one thought that could ever happen. It's only a matter of time b4 this happens here - and it's so easy to run into a mall or get on a bus with bombs strapped under your coat. In Israel, they have guards check your bags b4 you go into any public building (malls, store, etc.) but it only takes a moment to run past a guard and press a button... honestly, I'm surprise it hasn't happened here - Thank God!

People don't know who is who, and this country we have conflict with just has is a prodominate religious belief like some countries are a prodominant race. Others are not like the US, France, UK, etc.

When I see a muslim in an airport I don't think twice unless he is saying something weird and out of the ordinary but I would think that no matter who the person is.

I actually feel really sorry for them, b/c they're always 'randomly' selected to be searched. I don't mind as long as they're aren't some ignorant people who flip out & demand they leave the plane just b/c they're dressed in eastern attire (Which has happened), that's incredibly asinine. I flew next to an Arab 2 months after 9-11 from London to Home, we had a great time laughing at the onboard movies, I truly do not care.

Ah the joys of human nature....., if you see a fin in the water when you swim at the beach are you alerted? when you are walking across a dark parking lot is your situational awareness heightened? Do you not think twice about driving at the same time when the bars close? Is it possible to receive daily non stop news about terrorist and not think anything?

Well, most people don't even know that they are sitting or talking to a muslim because many of them look just like you and me. I personally don't care. But I know other people assume all of them are terrorist and hate americans, the media has done a wonderful job in teaching Americans the negative sterotypes of Muslims.

When I see Muslim people, first thought that comes to mind is what other people think, they caused 9/11 etc. But then I realize that it's like any country, just because some people did something bad from that country, it doesn't make everyone from that country bad. unless they show signs of hostility, I'd act like it's anyone else.

I feel the same way I feel about Christians, yet a person who claimed to be a Christian blew up the Federal building in Oklahoma City. Christians also killed many, many people during the Crusades. I feel the same way about Germans, yet it was Germans who killed millions of Jews. I feel the same way about white people despite hundreds of years of slavery and opression that black people had to suffer through. I feel the same way about Italians, even though it was 10 years after Columbus discovered the West Indies that his son was exporting natives to Europe as slaves.

Overall, I feel fine. I don't really worry about it.

I'm truly hoping that they have caught the bad ones and the ones that we see in the airports are all okay. I think it's unfair to assume that all Muslims are bad.

No one is guilty unless otherwise proved. Just because a person is Muslim, we don't have to become "alert". Its the person's behavior that should cause alertness.
