occassionally I will go to start the c280 and it will sart and stall right away, but on re try will start and drive normally. and start fine for maybe days or weeks with no problem. no lights on the dash idicating an engine failure.I can hear the fuel pump still going when it stalls. any ideas ?

You have a sensor acting up. Have your codes scanned for PENDING codes. A computer program is usually run to find the problem but it takes a very knowledgeable mechanic to do it. These intermittent problems can be difficult. Don't let anyone sell you on I THINK IT MIGHT BE this. You can spend a bundle and get no results. NEVER replace a part till you know the problem
