Life would be unrecognizable. Diamonds are the corner-stone (sorry for the pun) of modern high tec industry. They are used in everything from making cars to producing contact lenses, from heavy industry to neuro-surgery. In some applications they can be replaced by other hard materials but the equipment has to run slower and it wears out in a fraction of the time. All in all much of what we regard as "normal" today would not be here without diamond technology.

if the world were devoid of diamonds, i should be utterly lost and dismayed, for i treasure their exquisite beauty and would search, most likely, in vain for another stone to replace the charm and indeed the sense of grandeur which it has brought to this humble, yet gaudily dressed servant of mankind. i would forever be in a state of despair and darkness, and would lose all hope of ever being happy again. diamonds are forever, as is my love and affection for them. please don't tease me in the future with a question of this sort. as i find it not only teasing but excruciatingly torturous as well.

Humanity would be much better off if we had no diamonds or any other treasure. All they do is negate from what we are really here for- the advancement of our collective conciousness.

There would have been no diamond mines and millions of slaves wouldn't have lost their lives needlessly for the greed of other men.
