The best you can come up with. Flu won't work--too transparent.
How about you fell down the stairs & "think" you may have fractured ribs? That could keep you from going to work for more than tonight! You have an eye infection? Doctor appt. pending?
I can't begin to spell the damned thing, laringitis? (Wow!) & call in with long breaks in a sqawky voice? That is the best one I've found for breaking appointments! I'm self employed, so I have options--but usually find myself working seven days a week. Good luck!

A family issue has arisen that needs your immediate attention and you are oh so sorry that this has happened. Then order a pizza and sit back and relax. We all need a day to once in a while to collect ourselves.

I believe a good Cartman-style "Screw you guys, I'm going home" is in order. Or maybe a "Take this job and shove it"... Or maybe you should get off your *ss and go to work, unless of course, you don't need the job. That would be awesome. I wish I didn't need a job.

I ordered a pizza and it gave me diarrhea..of course the most embarrassing thing you dont want to say if the girl you like answers the work phone, but just saying..it is a good excuse.(lol)

Log off Yahoo, move away from your computer, shower and get to work. you'll feel much better when you get to work knowing you're going to make money by being at work vs staying home on yahoo all night and crying when you get your next pay check.

I actually heard this one on the radio today. A man called in to work to say he wasn't coming in because of a squirrel in his yard. Apparently the squirrel's nest is in the tree next to his car and the squirrel would attack him trying to protect her nest. Hey, it might work.
