I think that you should get your girlfriend (if you are not sure about marriage or anything like that) then get her a promise ring.

Something that will sweep her off her feet! maybe a nice heart shaped pendant or some thing like. You could take her shopping and let her pick out something, but I think the element of surprise is the way to go! Is there something you know she likes a lot if so get her that!
