I'd have to say Gone With the Wind. Margaret Mitchell implies that black people were too simple to live out of slavery and actually preferred being enslaved.

Wow. What a loaded question. It depends on what you mean by racist. I've read several books that have been challenged as being "racist" but really aren't. For instance, Huck Finn. It uses racist ideas of the time to show that racism is actually wrong - Jim is the best character in the book! But if you mean a book that has the strongest racist themes in it, To Kill a Mockingbird. Again, this book shows how racism is wrong.

I don't think I've ever read an out-right racist work, espeically not in school. The most racist book I can think (I haven't read it though!) of has already been suggested, Mein Kampf.

A Raisin in he Sun... atleast i thought it was racist... black people can be racist too. but then again in the book some white people were being alittle racist too but in the book the black people seemed to be making the most racist comments
