I think getting an abortion is so mean because you are killing a living thing: a human baby. The baby deserves a life in this new world since the person who got pregnant with the baby brought the baby into her womb.

Let's get this straight.. it's not a baby that they're "killing". It's a group of cells with the potential to become a human child. After a certain point in the pregnany when the fetus developes into a living being then it can be refered to as a baby. Aborting a group of cells that are not yet alive is no different than killing millions of sperm by ejaculation or for a woman losing an egg during her period. The only difference is that one is natural and one is medical. A woman should have every right to decide on whether she wants to keep her baby or abort it for the first part of the pregnancy.

Women get abortions because they don't think things will work out. They fall prey to the idea that a child is a burden, a ball and chain around their necks, that they will never be successful women if they have a baby.

Women get abortions because for thirty years in this country, "my body, my choice" has been drilled into an entire generation's heads by a pro-abortion government, succeeding in dehumanizing an entire population of human beings, all for the sake of a few feminists savoring the power that women have over men to choose the death of their unborn babies.

Women get abortions because they choose to see the cup as half empty instead of half full. They are led to believe that, if they just erase this one "mistake", then their lives will go on to become perfect thereafter. They fail to understand that things happen for a reason, and that LIFE is unplanned; LIFE gets hard sometimes; LIFE is our test. If we choose to go AROUND every challenge instead of THROUGH it, we don't grow, no problems are ever solved, and we don't ever see the other side of strife, which is understanding.

Women get abortions because the pro-abortion propaganda machine has until today succeeded in hiding the true FACTS about abortion from women, promoting abortion as a panacea for all of society's ills. Instead, abortion is a vile sickness that instead PERPETUATES the ills of society; devaluation of human life, child abuse, infanticide, drug abuse, underage sex, HIV and AIDS, abandonment of women by men, deadbeat dads, depression, suicide, and a host of others have all become worse since abortion was made legal, not better.

Women get abortions because the pro-abortion machine has, up until now anyway, successfully buried the medical horrors of abortion and of what an unborn child actually IS. The more we learn about embryology, the invention and widespread use of sonogram technology, including 3D technology, the unlocking of the secrets of DNA, the more we begin to understand that, from the moment of fertilization, a new and unique human being has been formed and lives on this earth, the closer we will get to outlawing abortion in this country.

People get abortions for a variety of reasons. Some people get abortions because they are not in a position to be able to financially support the child--or even to financially support themselves and keep themselves healthy and out of debt during the pregnancy (adequete prenatal care, not going into debt to pay for a hospital stay for the birth, etc). Other people get abortions because the fetus has a severe abnormality--defects that mean it would not survive outside of the womb for long. Why should the baby have to be born and suffer horribly for a week or two if it has no chance of survival?

Also....something else for you to ponder: The woman deserves a life. Some women get abortions--even women who desperatly WANTED a baby and tried hard to concieve--because the pregnancy puts their life or their health in grave danger. Those women have a right to their life and their health, no matter what.

I totally agree with you. I don't see any reason to get an abortion. It's your own child, you don't just go kill it by getting an abortion. And after you have an abortion it doesn't make everything better. You'll have the anniversary syndrome haunting you for the rest of your life. Reminding you that you killed your baby.

But here are some reasons why I think someone would choose to have an abortion:

1. They don't want to get in trouble.
2. They don't want to suffer through the humiliation of being pregnant so young. So to hide it, they get an abortion.

Though personally pro-life, I think that any answer to that question must look into the social and political implications of sexual policy in the U.S. For example, placing a child for adoption is considered less socially acceptable than having an abortion in many different social groups. In addition, one cannot overlook the fact that many people seeking abortions did not bring the baby into their wombs, but got pregnant as the result of rape/incest/etc. The U.S. is woefully behind other industrialized nations in providing access to morning-after type contraceptives, which could dramatically reduce abortion rates. Furthermore, sex education in the U.S., combined with a hyper-sexual entertainment industry has led to an increasingly sexualized young population, which oftentimes lacks adequate information about birth control and disease prevention. In addition, even when people responsibly use contraceptives, all contraceptives have associated failure rates. While those rates are very low, the fact is that, with current science, a certain percentage of sexually active women correctly using birth control will experience unplanned and unwanted pregnancies. If women are uneducated, young, and financially disadvantaged at the time of an unplanned pregnancy, having and keeping the child can virtually ensure a life of poverty and disadvantage for the woman and the child. For many of these women, adoption is not a viable option because of the fact that the U.S. is still incredibly racially biased, making adoption of mixed race or minority children less likely than adoption of non-minority children. Finally, many women who unintentionally become pregnant do so under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and may continue with that lifestyle for some time before discovering the pregnancy. Those women may choose abortion because of concerns about fetal health and development. Furthermore, even if they decide to keep the baby, it is very difficult to find adoptive families for children of addicts.

While I cannot imagine choosing to abort a child, I also cannot imagine having ever been sexually victimized. What I can say from personal experience is that even a much-desired, planned pregnancy can be extremely disruptive to normal life. With my first pregnancy, I had severe morning sickness up until I delivered. Were I the victim of rape or incest, I do not know that I would have the mental strength to withstand 9 months of constantly being reminded of the assault. While not all people who choose to have abortions have been sexually assaulted, I am simply mentioning a scenario where Ican empathize with people who make that decision. What I do know for sure is that I do not know the personal stories behind every person's decision to have an abortion, therefore I do not feel as if I have the right to judge those decisions.

So, those are my two cents on why some people choose to have abortions. I don't think it's fair to characterize all people who choose to do so as heartless or mean. Instead, I think a more appropriate solution to the abortion dilemma is for both sides of the debate to acknowledge that the arguments for each side have merit. Maybe then we can concentrate our scientific and sociological efforts on reducing the incidence of unwanted pregnancy and, therefore, the demand for abortion.

Would you rather the child have a horrible life of never enter this world? You have to think about what the parent is struggling with. Maybe she is sick and doesn't want to pass it on to the child, she could just think or know she'll make a bad parent, it could be financial problems (everyone isn't as lucky as some some of us, they don't get help from loved ones), etc. Most ppl do things for a valid reason. Others may have abortions on the regular. But I'm only defending those who care about the child and wants what's best. If you or anyone you know comes face to face with this dillema.. make the choice in the best interest of the child. You wouldn't want your child to be hungry, homeless, without clothing or anything like that. This is why it's best to think things through and save up for something like this(Money and time). Children are very expensive, time consuming, and tiring. You have to be physically, mentally, and financially stable for this. Most of the abortion patients are not.

I think until you are faced with the situation yourself, you should really keep your opinions to yourself. Do you honestly think that anyone having to consider abortion as an option really cares what you think? What an agonizing decision to have to make. Guess it's easy for people who have never been the victim of rape to say that they'd keep a baby concieved that way. There is no black or white on this issue. Grow up and mature a bit, maybe then people will take your opinion more seriously.

People do it either because they are weak, selfish, wrong in the head, or purely evil!
It is worse than mean... it is murder! People don't understand how evil they are being by getting an abortion! They don't want to deal with a child so they get rid of it! But they won't open their eyes to the situation... They won't let themselves see that what they are doing is wrong. That the thing inside of them is a human being as soon as it is conceived! That is has a soul very soon after (or maybe at the very moment!) that it is conceived! You ask them if it's a bad thing to shoot someone and they will tell you that it is... but if you ask them if it's a bad thing to get an abortion then they will tell you that it is not... but they are the same thing... murder. Some people think that it is woman's rite to be able to choose abortion as an option because if they don't let them then the woman do not have freedom... but even if the woman did not want her child is it the doctor's job to help in the murder? Doctors that do abortions are demented people and will not let themselves see what horrible things they are doing!
And people tell you that it's okay to kill your baby because it has problems... that's a load of junk! It doesn't matter if the baby has something wrong with it... it's still murder to have the child aborted!
It doesn't matter how you got pregnant... it is still WRONG to get an abortion!
Why would you want to kill your baby? Your mother didn't kill YOU!
ABORTION IS A TERRIBLE THING! IT IS THE WILLFUL KILLING OF GOD'S MOST PERFECT CREATURES!

I agree. I honestly don't believe in abortion unless your raped, the doctor tells you that something is going to be wrong with the baby, or if they tell you having this baby will kill you. Some people have abortions because they don't want kids, they aren't ready, it was just a one night stand not a life time commitment, they maybe with someone who is married. There are millions of reasons but I try my best not to judge because we all have to see our maker one day and we do it alone so what I think about their situation is irrelevant.

Whether or not a woman gets abortion is her business. We shouldn't judge because it's her business. every woman has her own story to tell. We're all humans and we make mistakes.
I had an abortion because I have a health problem. It was a very difficult decision to make. Either save my life or save the baby's or lose us both. I also had a family to care for.
