DON'T pour drain cleaners down the drain. They will only add to your troubles. The hot water method that others have suggested will be more fruitful. If there is enough room you could also set a pot of boiling water under the sink so the drain trap is immersed in the hot water and this will melt the grease clog.

Whenever you pour hot grease down the drain you must use COLD water and pour the grease slowly so the cold water clumps the grease up and it will go down the drain and not lay in the trap and solidify when it cools.

Paleeze! I thought everyone Knew not to pour grease down the drain. And the old saying is to use cold water. Your sister did not clog the drain by her self . You are the main one. A plunger may help, but you really have to get physical with it. Also sometimes filling sink to the top and pulling plug will do it. Also various drain cleaners. Plumbers are very expensive. So from now on get a metal can like a big coffee can and pour you grease leavings their. After full leave on neighbors door step, or you could add lye to it and make SOAP. If you are lucky you will be clogged at the trap under the sink. Remove it and clean. But you may also have restricted the drain pipe all the way to the main sewer. Then its PLUMBER TIME> Good luck

The grease has solidified in the drain trap. Boil some water (such as in a tea kettle or pan), get the standing water out of the sink, and pour the boiling water down the drain followed by generous amounts of hot water from the faucet. This will melt the grease clump and flush it away.

Boil some water in a pot and put the pot over the P-Trap under the sink. This will cause the grease to liquify and flow. Immediately run hot water through the drain for 5 to 10 minutes. I've used this technique for years when I was lead maintenance man at apartment complexes.

Don't use more hot water!! It will only cause the grease to harden again farther down your drain!

You may be able to clean some of the grease out by hand if can remove the trap under the sink. If not, use a drain cleaner made for grease. It will break the grease down and it won't clog again down the pipes. A small sewer snake, which is a flexible metal rod, can be used to break the clog up also.

As a last resort, sulfuric acid is available at most hardware stores as a drain cleaner, but BE CAREFUL and read all directions!!!! It works but is very dangerous.
