What you didn't say was what you were saying to her. There's 2 sides to every story. I sure you were just being an 'mean person' and she got tired of it. You were trying to get a free meal, so you started a fight with her so you could walk out. Conveniently AFTER you finished your food. You think YOU have the right to be rude and she doesn't. Just because shes at work, she has to take your attitude?? Grow up and pay for your meals. And quit making people feel bad just so you can get what you want. You selfish, cheap 'bad guy'!!! Why do you thing the manager didn't do anything? Because she had been telling him how rude you were all night long. You thought you were telling him what happened when hes been getting the story all night already. The only time they wont do anything is when they know all about you and just want you to leave already. Don't worry about the cost of the meal. They're happy just not having you there.....

What did the waitress call you? How do you know that it was the managers daughter? Did you stay and eat the whole meal? Drink the coffee, tea, soda - whatever?

Obviously, the place is very poorly run & you should get the Owner's name & address and write them a letter. Carbon copy it to your nearest BBB.

But, in their defense, they have obviously done this before and know they can get away with it. You were wrong to leave without paying, because now, they can come back on you and you can't prove a thing.

Anyway, I'd be just as upset, but you have nothing to go on. Next time something like that happens, just pay for your food - no tip and inform the owners.

It more irritating that someone doesn't pay for their food, than tip.

Having worked in restaurants for a number of years, I would say definitely not. If it had just been the waitress and not also the manager, I wouldn't have left a tip. However, since the manager failed to do his job to make you happy with the situation, than I would have done the same thing.

If this was a chain restaurant, I would let corporate know as well because it seems this manager is incapable of doing his job in controlling his staff's attitude.

I've been in food service for over ten years. I don't think it was right to not pay, however, considering the manager did not do his part to rectify the situation, you were not left with much of a choice. I hope it turned out to be a lesson for the waitress and the manager.

Yes and no. Your not paying initially keeps the money from the owner, but he can always take the cost out of his waitress' pay. But since she is his daughter, and he cared no more than she did, you did the only thing that would show him that his customer service skills need improving. Too bad he won't really learn.

As a food server, I cannot imagine how lame the situation was for you & the manager/father who has to deal with his unruly daughter regularly. I've reread it and I figure it's true, b/c the manager/father would have called the cops on you immediately after you ate and left withou paying (illegal). Or he would have comp.ed part of the bill, something. I would have payed the bill, left no tip, and called the owners/headquarters of the establishment to let them know how poorly you were treated. Then you could have screwed then. Now you can't call anyone because you stooped to their level by skipping out and they could press charges on you, no matter how badly you treated you.

You should have paid. If it is a corporate resturant you should have called corporate and reported the insults and waitress and manager to them . I also would have called and reported it to the owner or another manager.

Well, if It was a regular restaurant, I would have walked out too. But, I know that there is a place in Myrtle Beach, that is called Captain ***** (i think) they actually do act rude towards their customers, that is the atmosphere in that place...you wasn't in one of those where you??? If not, I would never go back to that place again

You were not at all wrong. I would not have stayed around long enough to eat the whole meal, though. And definitely no tip, of course. I think you know you did the right thing. They need to learn that they cannot abuse people there. I do not think they will be in business long.

Although you were being harassed, you broke the law by not paying for your meal. The law has many fine lines between victim and aggressor.
