If you truly don't want anything for Christmas this year, suggest alternative gifts. Gift-givers make a donation to a particular charity in your name. There even alternative gift catalogs, listing many of these places. You can find them by using Google or Dogpile.
If you really don't want to do the present thing, offer services instead. Give a friend a token gift (something small, like a favorite candy bar) and a certificate stating that you'll do a particularly-despised chore for him or her. Give your parents or your roommates or your coworkers a token gift and a certificate for three whole days without grumbling or complaining (or whining, if that's more your style) about anything. Of course, you have to do these things, too, and with a cheerful attitude. The more sacrificial the better.

No. Christmas has become very commercial these days. It causes people to spend what they don't have on things people don't need or want AND it causes a lot of stress. Tell people you are not buying for people this year. Tell them you would prefer they not buy you anything, but if they feel the need to get you something, ask them to have it be a donation to one of your favorite charities. Tell them that you are going to take all the money you would spend on gifts for people and gift a donation to charity. Who knows, maybe you can start a family tradition. If you want to avoid your friends and family on Christmas Day, go to the local homeless shelter and donate your time to help serve dinner. Be a giver not a taker and you will start to enjoy the holidays a whole lot more. Trust Me! God Bless Your.

I feel you don't have to buy all those presents just because you're returning to someone who gave to you. Be assertive and don't do that and next year only the people who really want to give to you whether you give or not will do so. It will eliminate the few you may not miss, although I think you may want to give to those who have touched your life that year in the spirit of love, between friend, family member, neighbour, mailman, etc. I say take a chance and feel free to give to whoever you want without expecting and don't give without feeling guilty or cheap and see what happens! It's not weird on this count, although it sounds like your passive behaviour (yes person, or pleaser person) has got you feeling resentful. Make Christmas what you want or if you don't want to celebrate it, let others know and relieve yourself of the annoyance. Best Wishes

Totally normal.
You should do what we do at our house if you area Christan
Have a happy birthday for Jesus and wrap up in any kind of paper, what you plan to give him for his birthday that year Kind of like a goal to becoming a better person, we have cake his picture and a big dinner and open the presents They will give Jesus that year its lots of fun. Kids give I will be kinder to my sister or help my little brother or remember to say my prayers.
Adults could donate more time to the poor and shush etc
Nothing really to buy just to share.

Yup, you could be weird, but who am I to judge?
Many of us would rather not celebrate the season (retail wise)!
It means much more to a great many! Giving is a nice thing! But the true reason for the holiday is not so much about this!
It is all about Him! Our Saviour!
Okay, I cannot spell so well at this time of night!
I would rather prayers than gifts!
IMHO,

No your not weird at all, you've become jaded. The holiday music, Xmas carolers expensive gifts and dinner parties, just so you can hear people brag about "who spent the most on who" while all the department store conglomerates reap in capital. Commercialism at its best my friend!

no you're not weird. i love buying presents for people but i sometimes would rather not receive presents from people. i think you should make it clear that you do not want any gifts for christmas and will not be purchasing any for others. if someone insistst on buying ask them to donate money to a charity. or donate your gifts to a charity.

Not weird, just not materialistic. Maybe you'd like to celebrate some other way. Worship or volunteer? Happy Holidays

No, I have the same problem. There seems to be nothing that I need. Everything I want is not worth the price. I feel bad because I can't spend as much on those who get me gifts as they spend on me.

I not want anything. I do enjoy buying something for the children around and sometimes put up a tree, if, I find one cheap.
