I don't drink personally, and don't have beef with anybody that does for the most part, but there were a couple instances where I tried talking to a couple girls on occasion and as soon as they found out I didn't drink, they suddenly seemed all standoffish and what not. Apparantly some of them feel that I'd be all high and mighty or might consider them lushes or whatever. On the flip side, I know people that don't drink that won't even attempt to go out with anyone that does. Both of those extremes are ridiculous to be honest, but that's how people work. As long as you ain't running people down in your car after your glass of Hypnotic, I'm cool with you. Could date someone that does or doesn't drink, depending on what you do?

You're right, when people take it to an extreme level & refuse to associate with someone who drinks or vice versa, it is pretty ridiculous. But there is no reason why 2 people who genuinely like eachother but have different preferences when it comes to alcohol can't date. I think it would be different if someone were to drink in excess & get too crazy when they drink, or if someone is always putting someone else down BECAUSE they drink.

I don't drink and I don't have a problem with anyone who does, everyone is just a person to me, no classes of who is good or bad. Despite that, I don't like being around when people are drinking, it just depressed me. I understand that everyone is different and I don't feel a need to preach, there isn't much to preach about, I just don't like it. On that note, I wouldn't date a girl who does drink because I want her to feel the same way I do on certain issues like diet (I'm vegan), drinking, smoking, drugs, environmentalism, etc. I can get along with pretty much anyone, but I don't treat a lover like a friend. It may be a bad way to go about things, but I just expect things of my SO that I don't expect of friends. Maybe I'm having a hard time explaining it, but I let her deep into who I am, and I don't feel like having opposing views on issues that I feel are important would make for a good relationship.
