Well, they started out as a high school band and did a mixture of rap and funk, so no, its not under the brige as the person above me said. Sorry. I'm not sure what there first "hit" was, it depends on how large of a "hit" you see it as. Go to there web site

Not sure, maybe Higher Ground, Under the Bridge, not so sure about if their first 3 albums had any hits, though AND ANDRE, WHAT IS THIS? IS A BAND FORMED BY HILLEL AND IRONS, THAT WASN'T A SONG AND THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS WAS THEIR DEBUT ALBUM!

Their breakthrough album was Mother's Milk, which included a cover of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground and Knock Me Down, both of which were some of their first hits. This was released in August of 1989. Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik came out in 1990.

"What Is This" was their 1984 debut album, but I believe their "hit" was Mother's Milk, released in August 1989, which had reached #52 on the album charts, the best chart position the band had attained so far back then, in the 80's.

They had several hits before "Under the Bridge." The album "Mothers Milk" in 1989 had several hits on the charts.

Their first hit single was "Knock me Down" a tribute to their previous
guitarist Hillel Slovak who had passed away. The other hit was the famous song Higher Ground, which was covered in guitar hero.

I don't know. The came out first in the 90s. Two of their hits now our "Tell Me Baby" and "Dani California".
