yes get a cup, you will get a lot of ground balls as a second basemen. A cup is the way to go.

Now I will answer this one, what you mentioned is a must, but you also need a infielders glove they are smaller than regular gloves, you also need a pitch-back screen, and yea a bat,2nd base is a good postion to play, you'll need to have a close friendship with the SS and 1st baseman they will save you a lot of errors.Work on your Verticle jump to avoid collisions at 2nd on DP's witch should be far and few in-between at that level. To give you a real answer just practice every-day,some kind of practice, throwing to improve arm strength, thats where a throw-back screen comes in handy if you live in an area where it gets cold put it in your basement, this practice improves hand-eye coordination which you'll need in the game of baseball. Also go buy a weighted baseball so when you go back to a reg. ball it will feel so light you will think you can throw it through a brick wall.(GOOD LUCK)

Hey! I thought you were going to be the Catcher. Use the same
equipment at 2B except have a good infielders glove. Practice by throwing a ball off a wall somewhere and catch grounders & move closer & closer or go to the batting cages where they have the fielding cage and stand in one place and move to the ball to catch it. Don't move along with the machine, stay in one place in
the center of the swing area.

Get a cup. If you don't and your nuts get popped by a ground ball, you will REALLY regret it. One time i saw a player who was batting, and he turned towards the picther istead of away when the ball was about to hit him. As you can see where this is going...he got hit right in the cup. His cup saved his chances of having kids in the future.

As an old infielder and father of two little league infielders, get a jock and a cup.
