My driver and passenger windows in my Grand Am will not roll up or down. I checked the fuse and changed it and its not the problem. Anyone know how much this will cost to fix or what else I can try?

too funny - I have a grand am too and that's starting to happen. It means the car is starting to go out, someone told me that the electical is the first to go. Start saving up buddy, you are in the same boat as me. lock the windows and stop rolling them down cause you might not be able to get them back up.

Go with Dodge mans answer.he's very knowledgeable. I'm a great mechanic too,but he found me a diagram that I looked for for hours online About a friends Blazer.that my friend tore apart. And then called me to rescue him.
If you hear noise in the door when you press the button, then your window is off track, or a cable came off in the door. If there is no noise and they both went out at the same time then the Dodge man is right.
If the problems didn't occur at the same time try this.
With the key on, open the door. Put your finger on the button to roll the window down and without letting go of the button Slam the door closed. Don't slam it so hard you break the window but to give it a few good jolts. This sometimes will free up a frozen motor. Good luck

There is a power window relay probably in the distrubution box under the hood if you havent tried that. Also like some of your other responses off the track or even a bad window regulator which is a gear the window moves on. Even possible the motrs but nit likely. Cost well that depends on what is wrong. Im not bashing you but if ur not to inclined mechanic wise i wounldt even ter into the door. The parts in the door can be costly. However the realy probably 20 bucks. So i would start with that.

Remove the driver's side window control panel (assuming it is located in the driver's door) and check to see that no wires have come loose. If they are all still connected, with a meter check for 12 volts to ensure that power is reaching these switches. Because neither window works from the driver's side and the passenger window doesn't work from the passenger switch the chances are good that the problem lies in the driver's side control panel.

Common GM problem with windows. If neither window is working the first thing to check for is a broken wire in the door hinge. There is a little peice of rubber between the door and the body right next to the door hinge when you have the door open. Pull that back and look at the wires in it. Most likely you will find one broken of bare in there. Repair that wire and you should be in good shape. Good Luck!!!

Try this. At night with the dome light on, key in accessory position, try the window switch. If the dome light flicks, then you have current to the window motor. Now remove the door trim panel and with the window switch on, hit the window motor and if this works, it's a bad ground or a bad window motor. Hope this helps.

more than likely the window motor has taken a dump. turn the key on, hold the switch in the up position with one hand and with the other hit the door panel pretty hard a couple of times this sometimes gets it to work enough to get it back up.

typically on a gm product, windows are powered by a circuit breaker, rather than a fuse. this circuit breaker will look kinda like a fuse, but will be a small metal box in the fuse panel. look at your manual.

That happened to my old Grand Marquis. The problem for mine was that the power windows have a motor that blew out. You can get motors for them at any junkyard. I'd do that before I'd get new. Call around and see if any junkyards have one for your make and model.

That sounds like an issue with the ECU. Time to take it in to the shop and pray that its a split wire or missing ground.
