After i create a character, and adjust the game settings, (dash, sound, text speed), and then i choose exit, the game suddenly hangs. After this, when i shut off and turn on the game boy again, there is no saved file on the screen. I've tried it many times, and it always happens. What will i do?

the first answerer is right - the internal battery in the game cartridge is dead. when you adjust the settings, and exit, the game is attempting to save, but cannot - that's why you hang. many old games face this problem.

GBA games are screwed in with a tri-pronged bit, something easily found on ebay for less than three dollars. the battery itself looks like a watch battery, just bigger. while they are readily available, the act of actually replacing the battery is not an easy feat, because you'll need to solder it back on.

this actually happened to me on another game, tactics ogre. unfortunately, i had sold it on ebay. before i found out it was dead. i replaced the game, but found it funny that the replacement, MY game, didn't require a battery (with the advent of the N64, inner batteries became a thing of the past - except for gameboy... for a while), but the one i sent supposedly did have a battery. so i told him to mail it back, he did, i saw that it did indead have a battery, and my initials carved on the computer chip inside the game, so i switched it with mine. i sent him the copy that doesnt' require a battery.

my point? the gba remake isn't that old, get another copy, it shouldn't cost more than 15.99. bring your gba/ds to the store to test it first, and check if it has an old save file already on it.

The battery inside the game cart might need to be replaced.
