I don't believe someone says things like that if they don't harbor those feelings in their heart. That being said, there are probably other factors that caused the outburst; including being an out of work actor doing stale comedy routines after being on such a successful show.
I also believe he is probably truly sorry - we've all said things we may have really felt, but never intended to say. If the media keeps pressuring and forcing apologies out of him, how can any apology seem sincere?

I think his outburst revealed quite a bit about his personality and the way he thinks. Regardless of any drugs that were used, he made references to a time in history that most people can't stomach, the reference that he used was so disturbing and morbid. I guess the question is could the drugs have made him demented and psychotic? My opinion is that hate had to of already been present, and the drugs just magnified the heated outburst. His remarks were very sick!

Hecklers are to comedians what paparazzi is to movie stars. And if movie stars get in trouble for not taking the high road with paparazzi, then comedians should get in trouble for not taking the high road with hecklers. And no, they did not heckle him severely. He noticed that they were talking to each other during his act, and he chose to single them out. That's when one of the guys said "my friend doesn't think you're very funny." That's all that was said. I'm sure they weren't the only ones in there talking, but he singled them out. If you're gonna single someone out, then be prepared for their reaction. I think it was extremely unprofessional of him to do that. And of course, I can't help but wonder if that's truly how he felt. Most comedians that get heckled try to turn the situation into a funny one by picking out a flaw in the heckler and exposing it to the audience. But unless I missed the memo, it's not a flaw to be Black, so yeah, I think he was totally out of line.

Someone's talent does not have anything to do with one's racial attitudes.

It obviously had something to do with his rant, in that he was doing a pretty sucky standup routine and got heckled.

I don't believe that stress (or alcohol a la Gibson) can make someone say something he doesn't basically believe.

I doubt if anyone with his talent could be so one dimensional.
