FIRST-sevin dust is a carbimate, a real chemical pesticide. Old school style! NEVER safe around life, it can cause synaptic nerve damage, I am unfortunately one of the victims of organophosphate/carbimate nerve damage...So no way is it safe!
Horticultural oil is fairly safe, but use it in a well ventilated area, with a dust mask and plastic gloves please.
Now for your spiders...I think you might have spider mites, MITES not real spiders. There for if you go to A garden center for a spray, both Horticultural oils and Mitacyde are usually some kind of an oil. At home also raise the humidity level of the plant by daily misting and cool the room temps as low as you can stand it, about 60* if possible. Mites hate cool humid climates and do not breed well.
Also google the word spider mites and see if your plant and the google pictures match before you spend money on a cure.
Lastly, you can type in beneficial insects to google, after you get the worst of the problem with Hort. Oil and Humidity, then you can buy predatory mites that hunt and eat spider mites, with out bothering your plants.

AHHHH! I hate spider mites! Oddly enough my palm had it too. I just used orthene, a systemic poison. But, Orthene is an insecticide, soooo.. you would do best with misting daily, keeping it cool, and definitely quarantine the palm from other houseplants, mites travel. You could use neem oil, which isn't a home remedy, but isn't an insecticide either, its a natural product that is safe to use.
