The problem is that tree roots keep choking the sewer pipe in the backyard. I just rented an electric snake and got some roots out. Then my son took a shower and the pipe overflowed again, so I took the snake to it a second time. The water started flowing again, but this time no roots came out. The machine does have the blades installed that are supposed to take out roots, but I have to return it first thing in the morning. Is there anything I can do to get those roots out so the pipe doesn't overflow again? I'm going to order some foaming root cleaner, but we still need to use the water for the next few days until the foaming cleaner arrives.

The best way to remove roots (without digging up the pipe) is with a snake. Perhaps try a different cutter on the end of the snake.

Barring that, the next best thing to do is to run "root killer" (copper sulfate) crystals through the pipe now and on a regular preventative schedule in the future.

Be sure to follow the directions carefully.

did you go all the way until you ran out of cable? run water while your snaking it so flushes the root pieces out and that way you can see in the clean out if the water is going down or starting to rise.I recommend running just a faucet while your doing it and then just do a final rinse/spin on the washing machine w/ some bleach in it , then your cable is also clean when you pull it out.

Yes. There is root killer you can buy at Lowes, Home Depot, and even Walmart. It's in the plumbing section or just ask and someone will put you in the right direction.

probable no longer a reliable plan. additionally the place is the go out to the vent? you may result no longer purely ripping the vent yet compacting the lint on the go out show. regularly those vents are wiped sparkling via extraction. I advise finding and taping an extension to a save vac. Your house may well be coated for this under the yards value. i could call them before intending with any restoration that extends to the outer partitions.

i would try the snake again and see what happens, also after you get it cleaned out you can use plain table salt in the drains to keep the roots out and its cheaper that way. good luck.
