I have studied the subject in detail.
Basically, the USA was swept by a wave of Anti-Japanese sentiment...we were at war with Japan and the Axis powers.
Pearl Harbor was attacked, prior to a declaration of War by Japan...Japan failed to give the declaration of war to the United states on time...a Clerical problem slowed the process down.
So, the attack on Pearl Harbor was considered a Sneak attack and had the support of the Japanese in the USA. The greatest fear was an invasion or attack on the west coast of the United States.
The US Government Interned thousands on Japanese, including US citizens in Interment Camps.
A dark day in the History of the United States of America.
There are many sites that deal with this subject and a few books have been written.

An injustice was done to the American Japanese people who had originally arrived as legitimate immigrants in the early 1900's.
The injustice began in in later years near the begining second world war. Japanese invaded Pearl Harbour.
In fear of American Japanese being spys or working for Japan, the West put American Japanese people in internment camps and even relocated them until the War Ended. Familyies were uprooted, and men separated from wife and kids too. All were originally immigrants, even american born japanese by that period, up to 3 generations were american. Lets say grandpa was from Japan, Son was very young when he arrived In america, sister was born in america, and sister son and bro son born in america, thus american japanese, but anyhow still perceived as Japanese from Japan.
