It's called Momentum, which is defined as mass at a velocity.. When the sun and its planets formed from a gaseous nebula some 4.7 billion years ago, they were spinning. Since there is little to no friction in space they are still spinning. Newton stated in his First Laws of Motion, which in part says: "An object in motion continues to travel with constant velocity unless acted on by an external force".
